New Delhi: An 18-year-old youth was found murdered at his Lodhi Colony home here Friday evening. The police suspect that robbers who ransacked the house might have killed him.
The body of Sanchit Sachdev, who appeared for his Class 12 exams this year, was found around 5.30 pm, bearing a blunt head injury. He was alone in the house when the crime took place.
His father RK Sachdev is an official with the Indian Oil, while his mother Preeti works in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
The police said Preeti found her son lying in a pool of blood when she came home from work.
“We spoke to him around 11.30 in the morning and till then every thing was fine. We don't know who has killed him,” an inconsolable Sachdev said.
The police said entry into the house appeared friendly. The family had moved to the Lodhi Colony house from Sarojini Nagar two-and-a-half months ago.
“Investigations suggest that Sanchit might have been murdered for resisting robbery. His head was banged against the living room wall. The house has been ransacked and the family car, a Zen Estilo, is missing,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal.
The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem examination to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Sanchit was a student of Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung.
