Mysore: Syed Basha has been selling toy violins outside the Mysore palace gates over the past 30 years. He was hoping to do some brisk business this Dusshera season, but it did not work out.

"Business has been bad this Dusshera season as there are less tourists coming to the city," says he.

State tourist officials expected around 4 lakh tourists to visit Mysore during this year's Dusshera celebrations, but only around 2 lakh turned up.

A record number of tourists were expected to visit mysore this Dusshera season but the recent terror attacks across the country seem to have spooked tourists to visit this city and that's causing bad business for many.

Assistant Director of Tourism, N Jayaram says, "The recent terror attacks seem to have scared the tourists but then Mysore has always been a safe place."

This Dusshera has also seen the state police on a security overdrive. All tourists are checked and CCTV cameras installed at important locations.

Hotels and tour operators in Mysore also reported a large number of cancellations following the terror alerts.
