Global warming is a real issue and has been discussed for decades in western countries. Powerful lobbies have blocked them in places where Governments have less corrupt politicians. Only hope is that the Media finds it news worthy leading to larger awareness amongst students.

To protect Ganga, we need run of the river hydro power generations instead of large dams like Tehri Dam, which r banned in US and Russia now. Put up placards/Boards, as many warning pilgrims not to use soaps or detergents on HER ghats, wahing of clothes banned, not to make offerings of flowers coconut etc into HER.. The age old pactice of lighting Diyas can continue if the items are degradable and eco friendly. The white water rafters. and the boats in Rishikesh and Varanasi should not be allowed to run in HER or any river for that matter with deisal. It can be row boats.See the difference in Yamuna devi at Yamunotri and in Delhi? In Delhi, we see people coming and throwing plactics and garbage into her. Please put up notices of fine if found to be throwing anything into our wealth, our Rivers. . Can the govt help frame their policies to save our rivers today so that their own future generations get to see THEIR beauty? namah Shivaya Har har Mahadev.

Now the govt. is going to give away the forest land to the tribals. The forests of India will vanish in one stroke of the pen of the parliamentarians. Those who worship faucets and do chaat pooja in Italian tiled swimming pools are championing the cause of the tribals and writing the epitaph of Injdia's environment. But then what is important for this govt. is the holy waters of the mecca.

that day is not far when all the water bodies go dry...to avoid this we need to adapt some eco freindly measure...Officials must keep strict surveillance and penalise those who pollute the river and use that money in water treatment.

over the years, their have been only talks on Global warming but no-concreat results.Our gangotri glacier is the product of such a global - warming. Many rivers have dried -up over the century the traces of which have to be determined only through satelite linkage which can be done only by organisation like NASA and ISRO.The greatest example is River Saraswathi. Now it looks like River ganges is following the suit. It is the life bed of India. - Disappearence og ganga will may even lead to Tatonic plate movements finally resulting the entire region to be converted to desert.
Come lets all Join hands and save our Nature. Reduce fuel consumption and stop wastages being thrown in the rivers and give more emphasis on re-cycling.

River Saraswathi dried up few centuries back (An underground river bed is traced by NASA satellite). And that caused Rajasthan to become a desert. We don't wan't UP and Bihar to be future Rajasthan. We have to protect Ganga. Ganga Bachavo Andholan :)

What is the use of having Agriculture Universities,if these cannot,initiate studies on the global warming effects on the glaciars.After all the water is also used for the agriculture.A scientist from the PAU has prophesised that Punjab is going to lose water rapidly and area will lose agriculture production by 50%,by 25years.
