Gautam An alaming news for most Hindus....it is time industries polluting the sacred river are made to pay a heavy fine...Pollution Control Board should become more agressive and force these Industries to treat the sewage they produce, before dumping in the Ganges.
Something drastic needs to be done, otherwise future generations will only hear about the Ganga and not see it

anjali All the natural resources are receding
The Earth is the only known planet where the living beings are found so far. As far as the human knowledge goes, the environment of earth is conducive for living. But as the years are passing the factors influencing the living condition are getting deteriorated. Many are due to manmade reasons. The rich oil reserve under the earth’s crust is emptied with a rapid pace. Deforestation is at alarming speed. The extinction or huge reduction of many species of birds, fishes or animals are with a rocket speed. The global warming is increasing, the rain quantity is reducing the water reserve is shrinking. Is it a sign of pushing the earth towards a dooms day?

more Lakshmi Narasimhan The Ganga river basin states need to pay for the clean up. It cannot be cleaned up by tax payers across the country. UP, Bihar and WB should pay for the same. These states do not contribute to the exchequer at all. No worthwhile industries are here. Agriculture lands are hugh. But agriculturists are not taxed. Unless they are beaten under the belt they will not change.
