ONLY THE BEST: Toyota said they won't recall the vehicles but can replace them if needed.
New Delhi: Japanese auto giant Toyota has said that customers who bought the Innova between April and October last year could face oil leakage in the multi-utility vehicle.
In an official statement, the company said they are not recalling the Innovas but if necessary replace the vehicle in a special service campaign.
The problem is in the differential carrier mounting nuts, which becomes loose, and, on long usage, could lead to oil leakage.
The company has sent letters to customers notifying them of the potential fault in their cars.
About 20 thousand units of the vehicle were sold during that period. That would translate to about 15 per cent of the nearly one-and-a-half lakh Innovas on-road in India.
Toyota says the problem has been detected only in India and could have been caused due to the condition of roads in the country.
The company expects to rectify the problem in all vehicles in a few months.
They also claim that the financial impact of the recall on the company will not be huge.
