CYCLONE RAVAGED: The worst hit area is Irrawaddy delta where UN says only 20 pc of the affected have recieved aid.
New Delhi: Donor nations have promised cyclone ravaged-Myanmar $100 million in aid, but the ruling generals have been told they must allow aid workers to enter the areas hardest hit by Cyclone Nargis.
The worst affected area is the Irrawaddy delta where the UN believes only a little over 20 per cent of those affected have received some assistance.
It's not clear if the generals are in full agreement. Prime Minister Thein Sein said aid with no strings attached was welcome.
However, he also stated that only civilian ships would be allowed into the country. A categorical word on allowing aid workers to enter the country is still awaited.
