London: Unwanted Christmas presents have finally found a place of acceptance, for people who are disappointed with their festive gifts, are dumping them on the Internet.

Websites such as eBay are doing a brisk trade in rejected gifts and according to the site, close to a million items have been listed every day since Christmas.

Some of the items listed on the Internet auction site eBay on Dec 29, include - an easy-to-knit scarf kit described by the seller as "a lovely idea [but] I cannot knit and really don't have time to learn", an unwanted Simpsons cuckoo clock and a pair of lilac girl's boots.

Other items, which were up for sale, include - a pair of Red Monkey jeans, with bids at 60 pounds, compared with the retail price of 295 pounds, and a 20 pounds Next voucher, for which someone had offered 17.99 pounds.

"Whether it's the wrong size, you have it already or it's just not for you, 're-homing' a present means it will find a new owner who will really appreciate it,” the Telegraph quoted Richard Kanareck of eBay, as saying.

Among the listed items there were two tickets to see the Spice Girls at one of their reunion concerts, which were going for 92 pounds because the owner had been laid low by “a recent foot operation”.

A girl auctioned a necklace saying: “This was made for me for Christmas by a friend but really isn’t me.”
