GORY END: The leopard was alleged to be a man-eater and had killed five people in the village.
Lakhimpur: In a barbaric incidence on Thursday, a leopard was caught and burnt alive by the villagers of Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh. The leopard was alleged to be a man-eater and had killed five people in the village.
While the Forest Department was on the look out for the leopard, the villagers got desperate and resorted to barbaric means.
Despite strict orders by the Forest Department that the leopard was to be caught alive, villagers captured the animal and went on to burn the unconscious animal.
This is yet another incidence that reflects a larger problem of man-animal conflict.
Conservationists feel that it's because of encroachments and forest fringe mismanagement that such incidences are on a rise.

This is ridiculous.
I wish the Forest Department takes serious action against the culprits.
