New Delhi: Former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) President M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said that the BJP was gaining the support of the people of Uttar Pradesh and added that the UPA would disintegrate at the Centre after the polls in that state.

Venkaiah, who is also in charge of Uttar Pradesh, claimed that splits have developed among the Congress-led UPA at the Centre.

''All is not well within the UPA. The BSP and MDMK have quit. The Samajwadi Party has also quit the UPA. There has been a growing disenchantment between the Left parties and UPA on several issues, including the Nandigram'', news agency PTI quoted him as saying.”

When asked about the outcome of the recent Assembly polls in Punjab and the BJP capturing power in Uttarakhand, he said, “Going by the present mood there is a strong anti-Congress and anti-UPA mood picking up in the country.”

Venkaiah said that after the Up poll results, “UPA will become DPA (Divided Progressive Alliance)”
