Washington DC: The Bush administration has all along been confident that the Indo-US nuclear deal will get Congressional approval this year.
The US House of Representatives is all set to take the first of the two votes on the pact on Wednesday.
The powerful House International Relations Committee had passed its version of the legislation to amend US laws, to enable nuclear co-operation with India with overwhelming bi-partisan support last month.
Despite recent reports of Pakistan's plan to expand its nuclear weapons programme, lawmakers are expected to vote ‘yes’ on the deal.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee had also approved a legislation that is likely to be taken up by the full Senate after the summer recess.
Meanwhile, a number of Indian American groups and business chambers have lobbied strongly for the deal.
