Mumbai: After performing the same play 167 times, the women have the same burst of energy and the same enthusiasm. The only thing that has changed is the language.

The Vagina Monologues is being played out in Hindi, this time with some old faces and some new.

Actor Geetika Tyagi says, "When you meet people and tell them that you are doing this play, they want to know what you're going to call it in Hindi."

Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues has tranformed itself into Kissa Yoni Ka in Hindi. Even as the cast of six women rehearse for the play, they realise that it's a play that is very relevant to today's times

Actor Varsha Agnihotri says, "Phool ko kisi bhi naam se pukaro phool toh phool hi hota hain." ("If you call and a flower by some other name, it will still remain a flower.")

Actor Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal adds, "It has more of a connection with the Indian context, especially today when the police commissioner says that molestion keeps happening."

And actor Dolly Thakore says, "The show has gained in popularity. A newspaper vendor had come to watch a show and she liked it so much that she said that she wanted to translate the the play in Marathi."

And for those ignorant of what the Vagina monologues actor Rasika Dugal says, "It's simply about women enjoying themselves."

If you are interested in catching Kissa Yoni Ka then head to Mumbai's Tata theatre on January 13.
