DOWN BUT NOT OUT: Bhupathi says, the duo has to now concentrate on US Open.
Beijing: India's hopes for a medal in Beijing by the ace tennis duo Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes were put to rest when the pair crashed out after losing to Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka.
Mahesh Bhupathi shared his thoughts with CNN-IBN after the loss.
Digvijay Singh Deo: Are you feeling disappointed?
Mahesh Bhupathi: Well, obviously since we've looked forward to this event for a long time. And it's over for us, so yes I'm disappointed but that is the way it is.
Digvijay Singh Deo: Was it just the class of Federer which stood out, because you did give it your best shot?
Mahesh Bhupathi: Anytime one runs into a red hot team and especially if there is the world's best player on that team, it's tough. We did try to change our game plan during the game a few times, but the way their team is going I'm pretty sure they are going to win the gold. But, I also don't think we have to be ashamed, yet disappointment is natural.
Digvijay Singh Deo: Yes, because you looked quite promising in the first few matches, but may be it just didn't click that day?
Mahesh Bhupathi: I would say communication wise it was our best match as we kept talking, trying to find a way to get out of the hole that Roger was digging for us. But at the end of the day, Roger was probably a lot more hungrier than he would have been, had he won the singles.
Digvijay Singh Deo: Is this the last you see of the Indian express at the Olympics?
Mahesh Bhupathi: It's tough for any athlete to plan four years in advance, As far as we go I think we've had a fabulous career together and have won pretty much everything there is to win and the Olympic medal is the only won left to be won. And if we are both playing great tennis in 2011 we'll consider it. But four years is a little hard to plan.
Digvijay Singh Deo: Are you looking forward to the upcoming World Group?
Mahesh Bhupathi: Yes, it would be nice to get India back into the World Group. It's going to be a tough match in Romania. But we have to first concentrate on the US Open.

I think rather than Mahesh Bhupati being dissappointed, we should be disappointed, and he should be ashamed.
