Mumbai: The three-day strike called by Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) was on Friday called off following amicable discussions between workers and producers bodies.

The indefinite strike call was given on September 30 to demand payment of stipulated wages on time, regulated working hours and protest against hiring of workers who are not members of the FWICE which controls 22 unions covering different crafts of the film industry.

Dinesh Chaturvedi, General Secretary of FWICE told PTI that producers bodies have agreed that non-FWICE members will not be hired. "Daily wagers will get their payments within 15 days and the contractual workers will get their dues on monthly basis," he said.

Similarly, a core committee comprising representatives of FWICE and all four producers bodies will be set up to resolve disputes arising in future. The present differences over non-payment of wages were discussed during the meetings lasting over two days.

The MoU about resolving the issues over payments and disputes was signed by Film and Television Producers Guild (FTGP), Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP), Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) and Western India Film Producers Association (WIFPA) with FWICE.
