London: You must have had a terribly slow Internet connection earlier this week. That is because two cables beneath the Mediterranean Sea snapped. Countries from Egypt across the Arabian Peninsula to the subcontinent saw service disrupted earlier this week. While repairs continue, everyone from individuals to governments has one worry — what would happen if we lost the Internet.
