WHODUNNIT? CBI says it has three clues to conclude someone else pulled the trigger.
New Delhi: Two months after Gurgaon-based property dealer Vijay Bhardwaj confessed to killing Delhi Police ACP Rajbir Singh, the CBI suspects it was not Bhardwaj who pulled the trigger.
CBI sources have told CNN-IBN’s sister channel IBN7 it has vital clues which establish the murder was a paid hit.
Bhardwaj had earlier confessed to killing Rajbir and the police claimed there wasn't much to lookout for in the case.
However, the investigating agency says it has three vital clues to conclude someone else pulled the trigger.
First, the recovery of five glasses and a liquor bottle from the crime scene when there were only two people there. This helped the CBI establish there are four more suspects in the case.
Sources say that Bhardwaj had asked one of them to switch off the lights just before the incident and that is when one of the four men shot Rajbir Singh.
Another important lead came from the call details. It was discovered that Rajbir's and Bhardwaj's phones were being tapped for 15 days before the murder.
CBI believes the suspect who tapped the phones planned the murder as well. They found Bhardwaj called one of his business partners repeatedly, before and after the murder.
The partner's call history in turn revealed repeated calls were made to the Gulf.
Finally, the bank account details of Bhardwaj's partner which reveal money had been sent to the Gulf several times recently, although through different accounts.
These clues finally led to the possibility of a paid hit, planned by this business partner who could have been in touch with a gangster in the Gulf.
These revelations by the CBI question over Gurgaon Police's claim that Bhardwaj shot the “encounter cop” from a point blank range.
