RIGHT CHOICE: AIIMS boasts of some of the finest labs and a library in the country.
New Delhi: A 3rd year student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Sajan Jit Singh Nagpal is all set to be an MBBS. He cracked the AIIMS code three years back.
Says Sajan Jit , "The selection procedure is the strictest so one thing isn't sure that everyone coming into the institute has a basic mental standard."
AIIMS holds an undergraduate exam in the first week of June and the results are out in the first week of July.
With merely 50 seats for the five-and-a-half year MBBS course, it is tough to join the AIIMS league. But it is not just the limited seats that make AIIMS the top choice for medical students.
"We train the students patient care and towards research so both the aspects are taken care of by the faculty," says registrar, AIIMS, Dr Sandeep Aggarwal.
AIIMS also offers undergraduate courses in nursing, ophthalmic techniques and medical techniques in radiography.
According to the Outlook CNN-IBN Poll, AIIMS is ranked first in terms of infrastructure facilities and placements beating the likes of Christian Medical College, Armed Forces Medical College and Maulana Azad Medical College.
The college also boasts of some of the finest labs and a library with more than 67,000 books, 66,000 volumes of periodicals and almost 450 journals from across the world.
While involving themselves vehemently in studies, the students also make sure that they have time to unwind.
Says a student, "The best thing here is that you don't have to be very formal with your seniors. We don't have to call them sir. It is very informal."
So is you are a medical student then AIIMS could be the right choice for you.
