New Delhi: The world's tallest man married to a woman two-thirds his height in China, with the bride being more than two feet shorter than her groom, Chinese media reported.
Reports in a Chinese newspaper on Wednesday said that Bao Xishun who is a 7-foot 9-inches tall (2.36 metres) herdsman from Inner Mongolia married saleswoman Xia Shujuan, who is 5-foot 6-inches (1.68 metres) tall.
The Beijing News reported that Bao's 28-year-old bride is half his age and came from his hometown of Chifeng despite marriage advertisements being sent around the world.
"After a long and careful selection, the effort has been finally paid off," the newspaper said.
China's Central Television aired pictures of the couple registering their marriage with workers from the Civil Affairs Department.
"I am just happy! No more words..." said Bao to reporters on Wednesday.
His new wife, Xia Shujuan spoke of her new husband's qualities, "he is very easygoing, not an unapproachable person".
Bao was confirmed last year by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's tallest person.
In December Bao was in the news after he used his long arms to save two dolphins by pulling out plastic from their stomachs.
The dolphins got sick after nibbling on plastic from the edge of their pool at an aquarium in Liaoning province.
Attempts to use surgical instruments to remove the plastic failed because the dolphins' stomachs contracted in response to the instruments, Chinese media reported.
