Pity there are no one to fight

Sharada Lakshmanan I am having a very bad experience with Air Deccan right now, as I speak. My daughter was scheduled to fly air Deccan along with a group of students and teachers from her school on Feb. 14. Just a day before her scheduled departure,we noticed a few blisters erupting and took her to Columbia Asia, where the attending Pediatrician diagnosed it as being chicken pox. He gave us a medical certificate that mentioned the nature of illness and the mandatory resting period required. The next day, at the time of departure, the teacher had requested the airline counter staff at the airport for a refund, as my daughter did not board the flight, due to medical reasons. The airline staff agreed initially that a full refund will be given, but at a later date, when I followed this up, I was told that they could not honor that. I sent an email to the CEO of Deccan Airlines, stating the facts, enclosing the medical certificate and requesting a refund. I get a reply from Ms. Rupali Losrado, the Asst. Customer Relations Officer, stating that they simply cannot refund the money, however genuine the case might be! This is not acceptable to me and I want to find out the different options I have right now. Can I go to the small claims court or is there a grievance cell for airlines that I could take my case to? I feel cheated and as a principle I simply cannot take NO as an answer by Air Deccan. I would appreciate if anyone could help me with the query.

Thanks,
Sharada

Narender Kumar Naredi I am a Frequent Flier and I bought 26 coupons worth Rs.50000/- vide COUPON no.CN 00020413 ON 21st Dec 2006.
I booked my ticket from HYD to Pune for My tarvel on 27th Feb PNR No.DA09604376. I wanted to reschedule the same for a later date. I tried to reschedule since 27th Feb Morning the system was not working. Then I went to the aiport but could not do so till date. I dont know the fete of my coupon. The feedback system on the Website is not working. Then I wrote to them thru a Registered Post AD letter on 6-3-2006 till today I didnt recieve any reply.

Since 27th of February we are facing problems on booking the seats using the coupons. The web site is not working at all. We are unable to get the phone lines.
As the frequent flier booking system is not working wherein each coupon costs me 1925 INR. Now since 27th of Feb I had to pay almost double the cost to book my tickets at the airport counters. The response at the airport counters staff is very rude to any questions by the frequent fliers.

Piyoosh Exactly this same thing happened to me during my last visit to India. I had a flight at 5:30 AM fligh Calcutta (CCU) - Dibrugarh. We reached the airport at 5:05 agreed I was late but I am sure they could still have checked me in if they wised to. At the time I was at the counter it was 5:13 and they stamped "No Show" on my ticket stating that I have to be 20 mins before the departure. I went to fight with the Air Deccan manager and told him that I am sure they were overbooked and as with most airlines in the US he should put me in the next flight but all I got was my tax part refund and they kept the ticket price (fraud fraud). It is time all the passengers get together and sue the airline. It is ridiculous to see such a major airline lying in the public and stating this as a system fault. How long such system fault go undetected when everyday the flight goes full and they deny 20 odd passengers boarding pass and keep their tickets price and refund them only the tax.

So folks let us all unite and file a case against them in the court. No one should get away after doing fraud this is the only way to reduce fraud from india and improve customer service.

Cheers to IBNLive for making this scandal public.

Arvi Dittoe with me. It was about 6 months ago, and i reached the counters about 50 minutes to flight time and in my turn, they told me i was late. There were 6 passengers at that time who were denied. I got only my tax amount back. I would like to see Air Deccan penalized for this loot.

Narayana Murthy Thank you very much IBNLive and team, thats absolutely true and it did happen to me more than 4 times...agreed that there are few flight delays but yes cancelling the tickets without any intimation without a refund is ridicolous...that the reason I've moved to other airline and god save us when travelling during winters its better we travel in a train or a bus....delayed during winters are horrible.

Eron Kar This happened to me just two days back on the 19th of march,2007.I was travelling from Kolkata to Bangalore.I reported 35 minutes prior to departure and the manager not only refused to allow me and my family to board the plane but just stamped my ticket as late arrival. Not only that they said they are going to refund the amount after 14 days.If they are so prompt in offloading passengers why are they not prompt in returning whatever measly amount they promise to return immediately.I incurred monetary losses to the tune of Rs.9000,bought a ticket with Sahara and flew back the same day.Can anybody tell me which authority to approach to redress this kind of grievance against Air Decaan. They are atrocious cheats. They should be sued.
