Dictator Maumoon is undoubtely unpopular among the general public of the Maldives now. He is a criminal if there is a proper investigation over him. He rules the country along with his cronies and the selfish few rich people under his power. Someone from the world got to see into this country and save the poor people suffering from this brutal regime where rich is getting rich and the poor is getting poor day by day. Maldives can be paradise for the tourists but alost hell for the Maldivians. We want a government who can distribute the wealth of the country equally among the people not dictator like Maumoon who eats up everything the country earn.

this is totally biased report.why don't you include in this report that the Parliamentry Group of MDP and other political parties are against the demonstration of 10th November.Only this power crazy Anni and Zaki wants to overthrow the elected government. We are peace loving people, we need political reform but we don't want it by violence.

It is a very factual report. You can see by yourself the number of comments which has commended this report. I think you are sadly mistaken that MDP Majlis group never said not to excercise freedom of assemble, I mean demonstration on 10th November was never condemned by the Majlis group. When you see truth don't understand why one should get nervous. Thanks for the excellent report.

Excellent report. what to do, We have not seen the word DEMOCRACY in our dictionary. We dont know that presidents are elected in other parts of the world. We thought Gayoom is our Godfather. We have no choice without your support and actions from aroud the world.

Maldivians are a thankful people and I am sure when the day comes for them to practice their god given freedom, they will not forget the people like you, who raised their voices and fingers in support of their struggle. I am sure you will be among the invitees to clebrate with them. So please do more, Mr Sumon Chakrabarti.

Gayyoom a Liar for All Islands! His words and actions never match. He is as unpopular as dirt here. But still he wants to remain in power as long as he lives with the help of his brutal military force. The people here lead miseral lives. All our wealth goes to the dictator's bank accounts. There is no respect for rule of law. The country is lawless. Gayyoom can also easily sentence a person to life imprisonnment for just excersing their freedom of speech. We want to get rid of this brutal dictator! Help us please!

Sumon, you are right and I am sure that you have seen the brutal actions of Mr.Maumoon. One day Maldives will become a very dangerous nation to the World if we let Qayyoom in power. It is very clear that Qayyoom does not believe in what we see to-day in this world. Why?, if we let a liar lives with his lies will do anything to protect himself and those close to him are people who have no principles and they will follow whatever he says. So the whole world become an enemy of Qayyoom and his regime and in return he will take any action agaisnt the civilization by funding terrorists and radicals around the World.

Its an excellent and unbiased article. Writer has very well brought the real picture to the readers. The reality is Gayoom, his family and cronies can't give up the unquestionable wealth they get from this tiny little nation.Hence the floral roadmaps and such gimmics are made to convince international community and to buy time. Its suicidal for the regime to allow independent judiciary,allow basic human rights and to allow establish other democratic pillars. If the people wants to get freedom and a bright future, have to work hard and then only they will get it.
