HOLLYWOOD AND THE MEDIA ARE IN A CONCERTED EFFORT TO BLASPHEME JESUS AND HIS TEACHINGS. BUT I ASSURE, HAD SOMETHING LIKE THAT BEEN SAID OF MORE RADICAL, FANATICAL RELIGIONS, BOMBS WOULD BE FLYING OVER THE SKIES OF CALIFORNIA. DOING NOTHING, BEING NOTHING, AND SAYING NOTHING, INDICATE THAT CHRISTIANS ARE NOT BETTER THAN THOSE WHO PERVERT CHRISTIANITY AND ITS TEACHING.

Da Vinci Code does make you think. If we believe in history as said by the church, why aren't we open to the other side of history? As has been the rule through-out generations - history is made/manipulated by the ruling powers. Over the years its a fact that Christian fundamentalist have won over a lot of regions by "not to civilised" means. This we have to accept. Then if there is another part in history, a differnt version apart from the rulers, why not accept it? Accepting that jesus was in love makes him more human and acceptable. If the lineage is present, we should preserve it. Bible is nothing but a compliations of theories evolved over the period of time. Christainity is a relatively your religion and would have its share of ups & downs.

The book by Dan Brown ‘puts together’ various existing theories. In some places, alters passages from earlier texts [like Holy Blood, Holy Grail]. Though unoriginal in its allegations, The Da Vinci Code proves that some misguided theories never entirely fade away. They just reappear periodically in a different disguise. Brown's contentions resemble throughout history, who have contradicted the united testimony of the apostles and the early Church they built. Those witnesses have always attested that Jesus Christ was and remains God himself. It didn't take an ancient council to make this true. And the pseudohistorical and fictional claims of a modern novel can't make it false.

"Those witnesses have always attested that Jesus Christ was and remains God himself. It didn't take an ancient council to make this true."
Any sane and rational person would admit that this is a matter of belief. Rationaly speaking God can be best described as a name to forces that we do not understand, an idea echoed thoroughly in vedas. The idea that God and son of GOd are all matters of belief that will fail any test of rationality.

I think ashok has not been able to put his thoughts in the correct way. A correct statement would be that bib. is also just a myth like most other religious books. There are elements of truth and elements that have been exagerated to bring out the best in human beings.

The book makes some fascinating observations. The keystone to the book is the idea that bible is not send by a messenger from God but is a human creation. The novelist makes some amazing observations in paintaings by da-vinci. No one can refute these observations. The conclusions made from these observations can be debated though. The book is a must read to just read about these observations and check them against the paintaings.
The book talks about some so-called pagan Gods and the rituals associated with them. You can coroborate those facts on the net and will be amazed why these facts where not described and discussed in public. There is an uncanny resemblance between the myths associated with these Gods and Jesus in bible.
Overall the book is a must read if you want to read history as-per the sects which lost the battle of religious supremacy.

You know, quite frankly, the book is kind of overhyped! It undoubtedly was a fun read, just like a lot of thrillers that have been published in the last few years. But thats just it .. its pulp fiction just like 'The Bourne Identity' or any Tom Clancy or Micheal Crichton novel. Infact, when you read most of these you cant help thinking that the authors clearly had movie deals in mind when they got down to writing.
By the way, the book doesn't claim that they Jesus & Mary Magdelena were just lovers, it states they were married & started a family.

I read the book. This is a very good book to read rather than going into details how much it is fact and how much it fiction we should look into this one a real thriller. And hope the movie is released with out any cut to the original theory mentioned in the novel.

The book makes some fairly accurated points to support its assertion. It would be unfair to dismiss this as a mere work of fiction. Couple this with the thought that the idea that a mortal human being is God will not pass any test of logic.

contrast this with the brouhaha over MF Hussian's paintings and the Danish cartons
