Taju The last time I checked we had freedom of speech and expression in India. The government decision is kinda contradicting my basic rights.
SO the next step would be banning all emails, just because a terrorsits used email; then the net as a whole?

ssk The right to freedom of speech in any form is my fundamental right and these rights come with their responsibilities. By censoring blog sites the Indian government is no better than China and we call ourselves the largest democracy in the world. People should be allowed to express themselves when events like the Mumbai blasts happen. Obviously the government will draw flak from the people because they are angry at the lack of security.

I BLOG, THEREFORE I AM,....JAI HIND

fb It is outrageous, the way the Government of India is planning to fight terrorism, by clamping down on the freedom of the citizens who are the victims, rather than the terrorists. It means that we cannot be safe in public because the present Cong government is too weak to take a stand and protect us with a strong security apparatus, but also now we will be unable to sit in our homes and offices and enjoy our already limited freedom. I have never heard Israel, telling its citizens to not visit blogs and websites condemning the murder of innocent people. Maybe we should not get news about terrorist activities too, maybe the govt should clamp down on tv and radio too.

INDIAN well i am in mumbai and still blogging - one has to only find a workaround to just access the blogs and i easily found 2...
ibn censured my post of the workarounds
first of all i doubt the govts intensions - r they blocking ips to kill the backlash of their sloopy investigation and very poor record on punishing the terrorist and their record on appeasement of minorities and especially those with an radical islamic bend ..
pakistan has also banned blogpost etc and workarounds have made these bans ineffective

Praveen This is typical of responses our politicians think of. Instead of concentrating on solutions these people concentrate on problems. We should think long term. Blocking access to blogs is not the solution, people will come out with some solution to circumvent this and find ways to access the blogs somehow or find someother platform. Another point, such blogs give an opportunity for the youth to vent their frustrations, to channell their anger positively, which otherwise could lead to disatarous consequences.

Further, the Congress Govt. is coming out with the new Media bill, which efftively allows it to put pressure TV news Channels. Were are we heading? No wonder, people are feeling the emmergency is back through back door. Wwe had some way to express our protest, but will our that right too be snatched.?

kris-mo The day is not far off when some election booths will be blocked since people of a particular area are critical of the government's performance .......

abhishek personally there is nothing wrong in Hinduunity, Hinduhumanrights which only educate people about the xtian convertion and othere issues like hindu attacks in bangladesh and pakistan. but banning dalitstan is good, this website if run by john dayal, who is a dalit converted to xtian, he says dalits should ask for their own country.
