vasu Last Sunday on 8th oct 0230 p.m. when I was taking a nap after a hectic week of busy schedules, I got this horrorous call from a socalled executive for HDFC (the number is 040-40128463 )trying to market her products. When I asked them how she got my personal information they claimed they have DATA BASE (?) .
It's a great harrasment many people facing mainly from AIRTEL, ICICI AND OTHER FINANCIAL FIRMS. Some stringent rules must be in place to curb this menace. People are really helpless desite haveing governing bodies like RBI. This is happening even after registering DO NOT CALL requests with Airtel and ICICI. It seems they need some more regulation and self ethics.

Zuber Syed the internet has added an extra wing to the data thieves.
Well...there are big assess involved behind data thefts...
you will be wondered to know that most of the westerners are afraid of providing their personal info like mobile phone number and credit Card number etc since long before the emergence of the internet...but we Indians are never bothered to provide our information because most of us do not have the sense pf privacy, confidentiality and info security...government and private sectors should initialize certain awareness programs...

mbsrk Hi, earlier Telecallers used to make calls, with help of directories published by BSNL. With emergence of mobiles, people switch to mobile. I don't see anything wrong in people calling to offer their service (unless u r registred in DO NOT CALL REGISTER). I receive max of 2 calls every week, and if i need the service i respond or I just say no and 5 seconds the call is over.(Note: I do not work with any telecalling company or insurance or banks - I directly or indirectly also don't make any calls.)

Vijay High time RBI and FM and depts should start audit and they themselves conduct these operations and start taking care of the citizens who pays the income tax to the govt.
What else the salary class getting from the govt. none. atleast the security of the person and belongings should be assured.

amit raje You’re Comment “Tired of pesky phone calls from call centre executives seeking your details, trying to sell you credit cards, insurance policies or home loans?”

Please have an in depth study and research of an issue you are trying to address. There are legitimate ways also of sourcing data. A few individuals who indulge in such activities should not mean, the whole Tele calling fraternity indulges in such activity. The volume of data required to promote a product from a direct marketing model (call Center) is not something a Ram Singh with an” innocuous-looking questionnaire” can manage.

Mr Learned I think this would be true. I am a Professional. These details could be very true & sad to digest. Please be careful all highnetworth individuals. One fine day the same info. could come handy for even goons.
