srinivasan.k It is not only Gandhiji - any person be it a doctor, advocate or a professional always spends more time in his field. So did Gandhiji - it is unfair to expect him to devote time for his family like any other commoner -especially when he had to travel length and breadth of this country, attend so many meetings, meeting millions of people, spending years and months in prison etc. He was indeed "father of nation" by his one pointed devotion to liberate this country and in that process he involuntarily chose to delimit himself as a father in a family.

niceguy Why discussing on Gandhi's personal life know, that too with the half knowledge. How relevant is it to the current state of affair? Its useless talking about the past. Bring out the real issues.

Panther its useless talking about the Mahatma's personal life - why just talk about him? in that case, anyone's personal life can comeunder scanner.

the Mahatma is is the 'Mahatma' today for his ideology & his contibution towards humanity. he has freed 2 countries with his ideology - adore him for that & leave his personal life alone.

dixit No one should blame mahata Gandhi for deeds of his son Harilal Gandhi. He never fail as father. That was luck of Harilal. There are so many examples are there where boys does not have father and they were successful in each angle of their life. Ganshi should not be blamed. I have not seen the movie but on the basis of my knowledge about Gandhi thru reading his books and articles I can say this.

Uneducated No! Harilal was not fail as a son!Comparing Gandhi with Nehru will be lowering Gandhi. If Harilal is to be blamed as failure son then his father Karamchanda Gandhi would be first as failure son and brother of his parents and family who sold his jewelleries to send him to study at England...therefore,Gandhi has been failure as a father of his son despite being The Father Of Nation!Perhaps this is the price of his(Gandhi's) success which Harilal was not ready to bear...as independent son of God!

manish No Doubt Gandhi was a mahatma, but the mistake(s) he did was much too big and not pardonable by any Indians...be it partition, Bhagat Singh Sentence or his own son. It is not that he can't be a good father..he had fathered Nehru well....so well that the Nehru family is still eating on Gandhi's name....it is only that in supporting his foster son Nehru, he totally forgot his own son Harilal....history is always written by the winner...still this congressian history has so much flaws in it that one can just see through it what may the truth be..but u just have to keep your eyes and ears along with your brain open...you are athinking Indian so just think over anything before blindly accepting it...

D.Bose Gandhi's son got everything. His father had no need to work, he was getting money from Birla-Bajaj and the Congress Party. He can just study and join his father to work with Charkha and so on. Eventually he could be a Governor or Chief Minister like most of his sons and grandsons.
He was a spoilt brat. A lot of people do not see their fathers, who need work day and night to make ends meet, do they complain?
His father ruined the country, he has ruined his own life, so what?

naresh What ever Mahatma has thought correct, he has done...

I do not think any living Indian has any right to evenpass on a comment what Mahatma has done right or wrong..

First see your own lives then talk about others.

truth seeker I believe that the debate should be on whether Gandhi really deserve to be called the 'Father of the Nation' ? or is he only a glorified politician .
