pranit You can never be a patriot and follow islam, as your first allegience is to allah. If there is war between india and paksitan, the muslim soldiers in the indian army will be commiting a sin by fighting for the infidels against the ummha, as said in quran. As a muslim you are required to fight against the infidels where ever they are!

Aravindan Neelakandan I call upon every patriotic Indian to send congratulations to this boy. I call upon Vajpayee and Advani as well as president Abdul Kalam to congratulate this boy personally. A very positive thing he has done. We should constitute a Vande Mataram Prize for National Unity and offer it to him on 7-Sep-2006. I TOUCH HIS FEET IN ADMIRATION AND GRATITUDE. HE FASTED 8 DAYS FOR VANDE MATARAM!

Aravindan Neelakandan It is dejavu to pre-partition days all over again.
The high decibel anti-Vandematharam stand, clamour for communal reservations, and Maulana Mulayam speaking of Muslim Pradesh, Sonia's Congress batting for SIMI ... Partition was a holocaust and pseudo-secularist vote bank politics of India is fast approaching the status of crime against humanity

Nishal Let us now try to understand whether Hinduism allows Hindus to equate the creation to God. Below,I have given few references(in Sanskrit and English)from Hindu Sacred Scripts.

"Ekam evadvitiyam"
"He is One only without a second."[Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]

"Na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no likeness of Him."[Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]

"Ma cid anyad vi sansata sakhayo ma rishanyata"
"O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him alone." [Rigveda 8:1:1]

"na tasya pratima asti
"There is no image of Him."[Yajurveda 32:3]

"Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste"
"They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements" (Air, Water, Fire, Land etc.). "They sink deeper in darkness, those who worship sambhuti."[Yajurveda 40:9]

My Hindu brothers, plz read the above references which are from your holy books. We infer from the last ref that Hinduism says that anyone who worships the creations(like land),will enter into darkness.Islam also says the same.
Vande Matharam song has lines in which the author equates the country to God. So my Hindu brothers, you read your vedas and decide whether Hindus can sing "vande Matharam.." song or not.

Nishal The God of muslims is Allah. Most people dont know what muslims mean by calling Allah. Simply saying, Allah is the exact arabic word for the English word GOD. Like a tamil guy calls God as Iraivan in Tamil, Hindi guy calls God as Bhagwan, the arabic people call God as Allah.
Islamic faith says that "There is No One equal to God.". Equating anyone or any creation equal to God is considered as an unforgivable sin in Islam. Our Country India is also a creation of Almighty God. So by equating India to God, we are equating the creation to the creator i.e God. This is the sin which muslims are talking about.
Not only country, even a muslim cannot equate his own mother or father to God. If a muslim says that his mother is like God to him, then he is committing a sin as per Islam.
So guys, please understand the faith of muslims and judge whether they are anti-nationals or not.
If a muslim denies to sing any song which is sung in praise of the country, then you can call him as anti-national. But if he is having problem in singing only one song and if he is ready to sing songs like "Jana gana..." or "Saarey Jahan Se..", then why should we call him as anti-national.

morph I dont think any muslim will object to singing vande mataram if you are going to tell him sensibly . So many have sung it post and pre independence, remember AR rahman he bought it back to national attention in recent years ! .But the current way of choose your religion or country will harden sentiments and alienate them . Asking them to sing it just to prove thier patriotism is unlawful and unpatriotic.

Vijay If we(indians) won't sing vande mataram then who else(pakistanis) will sing ? This kind of fatwa should be considered as anti national. And the person should be booked against anti national activity. Why not congress and left come out and talk about it, why no NGO coming out and talk about it? It's matter of great shame that people are being stopped from sining vande mataram.

Manjunath The fatwa should be given to the people who are involved in issuing fatwa's without thinking .The person who issued this fatwa should be castigated
so that no one will dare to speak or issue fatwa like the way he did.

Minu Mukherjee There are many Muslims who sing Vande-mataram. Take the example of noted composer Rahaman, for one.

Only fundamentalists oppose Vande-Mataram. Tragedy for the country is: Our secularists come to the rescue of Islamic fundamentalists very often, as in this case, which is not only shameful, but very dangerous.
