has anyone thought about why, in spite of such evident anti-congress sentiment among people(evident by the hundreds of comments on this article), congress was still able to win the elections at the centre, or why it very much looks like it will do it again in the next election?
COULD IT BE BECAUSE THE THINKING EDUCATED CITIZEN DOES NOT VOTE? I APPEAL TO ALL CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY!!! PLEASE SHOW THE POWER OF UR VOTE TO THE USELESS DESPOTS RULING THE NATION BY THROWING THEM OUT OF POWER. GIVE SOMEBODY ELSE A CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR THE NATION. PLEASE VOTE!!!! AND SAVE DEMOCRACY

It is obvious to visitors of CNN-IBN forum that no reader's comment appears on this board without pre-approval of Rajdeep Sardesai, the greatest journalist of India. Hence, your disclaimer is meaningless and you should take responsibility for all comments appearing on your board.
What can one say, after visiting England on public money, he is convinced that his father was a Gora, like Nehru? Being anti-Hindu is only way to live in secular Hindustan, according to his definition. When Israel was formed in 1948, it opened its door for all Jews to come back and live in Israel without being called communal.
My question to him is where Hindus (Sanatan Dharmis) should go and live like Hindu as our ancestors did, without being branded as communal?
Jai CNN-IBN.

This is nothing new. We all know this. In my school days, I used to read that Nehru was the architect of modern India. The books never spoke about the flip side of his architectural talent and his autocratic ways apart from his womanising habits and westernised ways of lifestyle! I read the newspapers, history books with sacks of salt!! I will never believe that Subhash Chandra Bose died in an air accident or do I believe that Lal Bahadur shastri died in Tashkent of a heart attack! Both were probably incidents and there were architects behind them.

The main question is not that Non-Gandhi PMs are forgotten heroes for Govt. But the main question is how a Non-Gandhi became PM is Indian secular democracy?

its a great pity. The biggest problem is nepotism and partial treatment to rich/powerful/fair skinned individuals in our country.
Talent and achievement is what is to be appreciated and rewarded. Shastri was a great, HONEST and very truthful leader. Yet, the goverment does absolutely nothing to spread his honesty and leadership.
Shame on us for our mentality and on the government for their preferential treatment.

All congressmen, from top to bottom, know which side of the bread is buttered. They will be with Nehru family(including Madam Sonia)as long as it is profitable.

Why u want to remember Shastriji. Just bcoz of slogan and he won first war even when people have to fast a day during that. Or bcoz he was so honest that he doesn't own a two-bed flat even when being PM. Think the kind of negative impact it will have on our corrupt politicians who want to have crores of Rupees stashed in Swiss banks and even for their servants forget the kids.. Think of the scams in defence be it Bofors or any other.. We are a corrupt country and we want to glamourize and make it more big. We want to show Rajiv as the only PM.. We only remmeber Mahatma bcoz he shares the Gandhi name with Rajiv and family.
Long Live corruption is the motto of todays govt politicians or servants...
But myself being a common man just remmeber Dr. Rajendra Prasad whose account was having 1346 Rs in Union bank branch of Patna when he died or Mr Shastri not owning a flat and living in rented acco till his death.. We don't need state sponsored drama to remember these leaders. This drama is required for politicians whom country knows for Bofors and other scams...
Does anyone feels Mahatma Gandhi or Patel or Shastri or Bose needs to be displayed atleast in generations uptil 1980s. But I feel young people and kids might just forget these golden heroes who laid foundation of the nation in difficult scenarios and we are now liviing a decent life due to their efforts..

Its official now. Fact about how only non-naheru/gandhi family members have been shown as chief architects of the nation and how other have been marginalised. However, it doesn't surprise me. Its just officially said than closed door discussoin by law makers in delhi. Saradar Patel, Balgangadhar tilak, Gokhle, Bose, Morareeji desai, Shastri, JP, Dr Rajendra Prasad and many more just ignored because their heirs didn't join active politics.

In a country that spares no opportunity to hail its heroes? I disagree with this very first sentence in this article. The only heroes that are being hailed consistently are the very people who are actually non-heroes in the hearts of the people of India. The ones who are actual heroes and the people of India really love them, are the ones who are consistently forgotten by the government. The list is long -Lal Bahadur Shastri, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel are a few of those leaders whose charisma so much overshadows that of Nehru-Gandhi family leaders that the government chooses to forget them. Its not that they forget them. Its a case of choosing to forget them.
