mishra had reservation about n-deal ealier and now is batting for it is indirect approval of same by vajpayee which advani has refused to accept it in public. whatever may be case but PM has to learn to deal with advani not vajpayee as he's not going to dictate in party matters or even NDA actively. additionally both UPA & NDA [except for karat bros & sis] have same inclination w.r.t foriegn policy. for the last 4 years my continuos crticism of PM & Sonia has been vindicated. PM and Sonia have failed in floor management in parliament and simply acting like dictator as far as polity is concerned[bihar assembly, appointment of sloppy president etc.] I dont agree wtih Mishra on China Policy. We cannot be complecent with them given thier agents are in our govt. [ Karat bro & Sis ]. PM and pranab have been foolish in letting tibet issue out of hand for long. No refugee/asylum seeker can be allowed to conduct anti-foriegn country activity from here. We have been liberal that should tell dalai lama to behave properly. there cannot be any anti-china activity here but at the same time chinese should be given the impression that we are backing forward for their praise and good words. They can go and take a hike when it come to Arunchal & Aksai chin. That needs to be convyed properly by PM & coupled with stern warning from joint chief to top PLA commanders. It would be better to walk out of border talks now since we done enough for them for olympic torch. Idea is that they should get good message even politically in addition to operationalising the forward airforce bases. It would be better to up the ante now rather than wait for them to misbehave. I dont even agree that we need to behave in manner where we project ourselves passive. There are time when we need to very reactive at least w.r.t to border issue etc. There is no need to be slient and show maturity here as those signal to chinese are taken by them for granted. Foolish PM should handle things carefully.

1) Nuclear deal-> Manufacturing consent with Dollar money. 2) Democracy Vs Fundamentalism in Pak-> There is NO REAL conflict of interest between USA and Islamic terrorism. What appears is only superficial and limited to retain US control over its own designs.
There is an 800 billion Rupees MilBus (Military Business) in Pakistan, which controls everything. During cold & Afghan war, USA assisted it. For MilBus, feudal forces are natural allies. MilBus has its own vested interest so is for USA corporates. In 2006, US signed arms transfer agreements with Pakistan in excess of USD 3.5 billion, ranking Pakistan its No.1 client.
Military expense in the U.S. are rising in absolute terms. Total defense expenditures grew from USD 281 billion in 2000 to USD 471 billion in 2005. However with respect to percentage of GDP, defence spending has sharp decline, from 35% of GDP during World War-2, to 5% of GDP now.
How is it possible? Apart from various forms of outsourcing and importing cheap highly skilled labour from across border, US funds its manufacturing by defence sales. Defence projects have commercial compartment, focusing sales of substandard version of military equipments to 3rd world countries. If USA stops selling arms to Pak, it will be forced to spend more % of its GDP on defence.
Thus USA, Pakistan and India's Military Business and terrorism all work hand in hand. There is not real conflict of interest between the new air-lifted and parachute dropped coalition govt and Islamic fundamentalism.
Real threat to MilBus may emerge in the coming years like what happened in Nepal. Inflation and the fall of prices of agricultural produces may put hunger back in the political agenda in Pak also. Already there is a middleclass which fought for the restoration of Judicial institution in Pak. In the coming years large scale unrest in the rural Pak will supply cadres to real people's forces.
Too much relying on Musharaff or Zardari is not going to do any help to India

This is one of the best attempt to generate an honest opinion from an eminent person on N deal. I feel sorry for BJP and NDA as well as UNPA and other non left parties to realise facts and leading India in to dangerous position by not operationalising the N deal. Left parties in India are known for their dogmatic ideas on economic and political issues faced by India.
I am more surprised with RSS leaders for not having honestly reveiwed N deal in right perspective. They could have influenced BJP to take a rational stand. Time is still ripe for all of them to take a national view and allow present Government to operationalise the N deal as early as possible without trying to score points this way or the other.

If by any chance, even with almost no chance also, India does a N-Deal with any of the political permutation combination, Karan Thapar surely to become a hero behind the scene. He is set to put an example of responsible journalist with nationalism on his radar of focus.
In last some months, he has not left any stone unturned to explore the possibility of doing what seems almost impossible with UPA-LEFT political combination. He has spoken to almost all possible gentleman who could be concerned for this. Even think he has read Fuzzy theory of Mathematics or Theory of possibilities of Mr. Zedah.
Karan, do it anyhow, history wants you to do it. I guess.

Mr. MISHRA has accepted that he not a Scientist, then why he is advocating for entering CTBT treaty with USA. "IF HE CAN NOT UNDERSTAND, WHAT IS GOOD OR BAD FOR THE COUNTRY", meeting power requirement, "THEN WHY ONE WANT TO SELL THIS COUNTRY SOVEREIGNTY TO AMERICA?" Why USA should throw their weight around the world and ALLOWED to act as 'BIG BOSSES'? They should not be TRUSTED! We can BUY any Technology or FUEL from anywhere in the world by spending MONEY & on terms/conditions, suitable to our country's need. MR. THAPAR should be congratulated for such nice interview which reveals the hollowness of our so called ruling corrupt politicians!

This is total bullshit! Getting fuel is not a big deal then why go through US treaty? Mr Misra seem to be also under pressure from congress for offering such comments! It is the congress which wants to sell the country's sovereignty & pride for a short term gain, which is not going to solve our power problems for more than 5% of our total requirement.

If we see the present situation of the world and the subversive activities of Pakistan and Bangladesh in India and the situation in West Asia and in other places some effort should be made towards world peace. If America signs CTBT there is no danger in India signing. Treaties or agreements will not come in our way when the question of National Security comes.I fully support MR Brajseh Misrs in saying that INDO US neuclear deal is a must.

India's energy needs are growing at an alarming rate and we need this nuclear deal badly now to keep the energy production rate up. Why won't the different political parties come together on this? Why won't the media inform people on this issue and try to get the public support in its favor so that the Left parties and BJP (which I am surprised is against this) can not oppose this without risking a public backlash.

India being a developing country, our appetite for energy is great. Our development needs fuelled by all possible means. Unfortunately, nature has not gifted us with natural petroleum. We are certainly at a disadvantage. Lack of energy is retading our progress. In the short run we need to exploit all forms of energy including nuclear energy. For exploiting nuclear energy, our natural resources of uranium fuel are very meagre. Uranium has to be imported from Nuclear Spply Groups. In the hort run we have to be dependent on Nuclear Supply Groups to meet our uranium requirement. In the mean time we should make all out effort to develop Fast Breeder Reactor technology to generate nuclear power utilising our own reources of thorium of which we have abundant reserves. Nuclear deal will also make advanced technology accessible to us. All possible alternative sources like solar power, wind power, thermal energy, geothermal energy, tidal power, hydrogen energy, fuel cells should also be developed to meet our requirement.Technologies relevant and appropriate to our resources and requiremenrs alone will do. Self reliance should be the ultimate goal.
