abid hi shushila ,
i know it's very sad,
but you have still so many ways like,
hydrabad me ICFAI college hai,
wha tum apna biodata bhejo to,
hostel lodging tution fee nahi lagega.
aur haan aap ko scholar ship bhi milega.

S Subramaniam The news was broken way back on 24 Jul 07 and there are as many as 117 comments till to date sharing the agony of the unfortunate brilliant girl from a GENERAL CATEGORY but there is no apparent positive action either from the Government or the IITs to mitigate the genuine hardships of the girl whose dreams have been shattered. Our Prime Minister is on record to state that he never slept when Md Hanif was put behind the bars in Australia for his purported terrorist activities in the foiled UK Terrorist attack and the entire Government machinery was hell bent to see that Md Hanif was released without delay whereas no Consular support was given to an Indian Official working in the UN Procurement Wing, New York charged and convicted in a corruption case. Now, Government is contemplating for the Consular Support to Sabeel involved in the failed UK Terror attack. Both Mr VP Singh and Mr Arjul Singh are silent at the plight of the poor girl who could not get admission in the IIT due to her financial constraints even though she had cleared JEE and the news was broken on 24 Jul 07. In this connection it would be pertinent to mention that the YOUTH FOR EQUALITY who spearheaded the anti-reservations agitation have demanded RESERVATIONS for the ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD CATERGORY from the GENEREAL CATEGORY and the Supreme Court had also opined that the CREAMY LAYER of the SC, ST and OBC should be excluded from the entire gamut of reservations. The conspicuous silence by all concerned for all these days only drives home the mute point that in INDIA the mainstream CORRUPT-CRIMINAL-TAINTED politicians have no regard for the MERIT and they are meant only for appeasing the MINORITIES, SC, ST and OBC for CHEAP VOTE BANK POLITICS even though we are called as SECULAR DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY and I do not know how long this tyranny will continue. We need more KALAMS and not the present coterie of powerful sycophants to mitigate the genuine hardships of the common man.

vikram Singh Thakur This is criminal. The banks or for that matter anyone who denied her a loan should be charged with criminal negligence. They deserve more than that actually. I am appalled. It sickens me to learn that such a bright and intelligent girl was deprived of her rightful right to education for want of money. At the same time I was moved by the responses to the news story. It was just great to see so many people come forward to help. Keep up the spirit! It gives one the hope that all is not lost in India yet. Please add my name to the list of all those who have offered to help.

Rajanth It is sad there are so many people to help but the time has passed.

sujit Hi cnn-ibn,

Can you please arrange to provide the contact no or address of Sushila...
I will be happy to take the financial burden for first 2 years.

Prakash Kumar The truth is something like this. Sushila has not cleared IIT JEE for seven of IITs, but was on an extended merit list. She has now taken admission in some engineering school in Ghadwal. She has been helped with money from her Uncle.

Yogesh Trivedi I have posted my comments in support of Shushila. The out pouring of concern and support is tremondus. I now do not doubt that she will be admitted to IIT this year.
I would like to commend editors of IBN to bring out the story. It is shows IBN is mindful of the need for the news organization to be socialy responssible.
Thank you for the story.

Yogesh Trivedi It hurts to come accross such story. It would be shameful for India and shame on IIT involved if Sushila is not admitted to this year. I want to add my name to the sponsor for the first year tution fees for Sushila. From the other reponses to this story it seems money is not an issue . The issue is how to make this happen.
