i am a bohra muslim and i'm willing to tolerate slaughter of PIG right in front of my house. by d way what u get by doing this? nothing na. but we follow our tradition on bakri-id.

hello,this is a religious issue.how come gujjus who are pure vegetarians are managing to live in US where 85% are christians and 95% are meat eaters.let the vegetarians who are saying that meat eaters should go away from vegetarian majority locations stop being hypocrite and try to come out of US first.practise what you preach.most gujjus preach communalism in india and preach secularism in US.

This is not Veg vs Non-Veg....though it seems to be...It's definitely communal...I myself have faced this discrimination in a city like Mumbai. If non-veg is such a big issue, how come the gujjus/jains and all the so called religious vegeterian hindus live so comfortably in the west where there are more than 95% meat eaters??? The govt. should seriously bring a rule wherein no one is barred from occupying or selling a property to anyone on basis of caste/religion/sexual preferences.

I think this is not so much about religious sentiments.It is just that the act of slaughter can be a put off for people who are vegetarians.These practices should be carried out within one's own home or at the slaughter house and not in the open.I do believe when one resides in a society each one should respect the sentiments of other residents.It would be sheer arrogance on their part to do otherwise!!!

Here we go ONCE again...Veg Vs Non-Veg, Hindu Vs Muslim, North Vs South and latest Mumbai vs Rest...
Are we living in 2008 or is still 1800's...to my fellow Vegetarians who are supporting the communal society owners that they cannot tolerate a goat being slaughtered should check the Indian constitution which guarantees 'freedom to practice ANY religion'.
The key word is 'in their LAWN' which is private area, what these religious bigots are advocating that they want to control even the habitat of peoples now...
One gentleman pointed out how would Muslim feel if a Hindu slaughter Pig in Open well anyone can answer that same way a Hindu feels when a Cow is slaughtered...are you equating Goat with a Cow now...as of this is the case then all Gujjus/Jains/Veggies should migrate back to India from West as there Meat is sold like common commodity in Supermarkets...
People should get out of this attitude and specially Jain/Gujjus who are REALLY getting out of control specially in Mumbai and Gujrat..remember what you are practicing today can bite you back sometime...

In Pune Bhoris have more than 3 societies exclusively for Bhoris. Even sunni Muslims are not allowed. One is at Fakhri Hill before you take a turn for Salunkhe Vihar Rd from Lullanagar. Bhoris dont allow others to buy property there.
In Gita Society once Bhori buys a flat he resells onl to a Bhori.
Bhoris worship their founder Badruddin and give taxes to him and not to Govt of India. Once a Bhori doesnt pay his tax- he is not allowed the facility of burial ground owned by the Bhori trust. Hindu crematoriums are owned by Corporations.
A newly born Bhori child is named by their high priest and if no taxes are paid than the chils faces boycot by the priesthood.This lady who claims to know about Nazis is a nut because her knowledge about Nazis may be good but her knowledge about Bhoris is very poor or Zero.

There is no fight between hindus and muslims. The actual fight is between broad-mindedness vs narrow-mindedness; religious intolerance and acceptance; and kindness vs cruelty.
In this fight, I am against goats being slaughtered in Bakri-id; and also against Jallikattu in T Nadu. I am upset of Gujraj 2002 massacre by Hindus; and at the same time, upset that native Kasmiri people were driven out by Muslim fundamentalists from Kashmir.

I think the solution to this is to change society bylaws to ensure live animals for sacrifice are not allowed to enter the compound. The sight is disgusting even to pure non-vegetarian hindus let alone the jains and marwaris. Discrimination on religious grounds is bad and must be opposed. Its a lot like whites in US not allowing blacks in colonies because they may suspect they are all gang members and drug dealers.
