1. for years parsis n sardarjis have been targetted by ridiculing them in movies. 2."aye Ganpat chal daru la"-----gANPAT IS HINDU GOD'S NAME...so shuldnt that have been banned. 3.If a song had come " aye nanak chal daru la" "aye mahavir chal daru la" "aye gautam chal daru la" Then would all these religions tolerate. 4."rabb bhi diwana lage re" this sawariya song ......saying he feels god is crazy...chalo is pe ban karte..........

I think our gen-x urban Indians need to do a bit of soul searching, that includes everyone on the list here. All of you seem to direct your ire at politicians.
This has NOTHING to with politicians. This is an issue about DIGNITY OF LABOUR which my compatriots don't seem to understand a grain about. Imitating other professions, like students sweeping roads in protest and acting as shoe polishers etc basically reflect the lack of civility and respect for others.
The way Indians think and rub off these issues only shows that we are still not completely civilised . Dignity of labour and respect for others is one of the basics of a civilised society.
Maybe the producers were inadvertent, very possible. But those commenting here are definitely not. It only reflects the underlying malice in our society. The movie wouldn't deserve a ban but this is another opportunity to address the skewed thought process of Indians.

Indian culture has allways been full of derogaroty remarks for people of certain communities. This has made india culture a bit of laughing stock abroad. Its shame on the song writer, to pen such lines towards communities. Seems he is still living in 19th century!!! Offcourse, opputinuties politicians will take advantage of some stupid lyricists.

I think level of tolerance in India has com down. I do not think there is any referance to any caste in the song. The politicians are trying to be in the lime light without doing any work for the people. How long they are going to play vote bank politics and fool the public.Ever since Mayawati took over UP politics i do not think any positive step has been taken to improve the state. Her color will be known in another one year.

this is height of joblessness....mayawati shud be more concerned about the security situation in UP than fuss about one word in a song that too in a bollywood movie.... n moreover its the job of the censor board to address issues like these, not the state governments!! pathetic!!!

Oh yes sure Mr.Indian Justice Party . Nice way to try and get national recognition . What a damn shame . This is politics at its lowest level .
Those who want to make an issue of this probably dont know that even cobblers who saw the movie did not mind the words .
Change the words to Mantri chale sonar banne or IJP chala Hero banne . Holy smokes guys . Is this India 2007 ???

Leaders like Mayawati are a liability on our country. she is playing dirty politics. Every profession is good. A colbbler can become a shoe maker like BATA. And a goldsmith may think of doing a business in leather if its profitable.

Politicians have gone mad ... nothing else. This line doesn't imply any thing to any specific caste. Here is a line from "Ramcharitmanasa" by Tulsidas:- "Dhol Chamaar Shudra Pachi Naari, Sakal Tarana Ke Adhikari" Is this line is sufficient to ban "Ramcharitmanasa".
( Posted: Saturday , December 01, 2007 at 13:54 )
Well, a lot of dalits do hate that too.Infact they consider Hindu religion itself as a chain around them and their dignity.
I am sure as hell that none of the commenters here are dalits .

I believe there is no problem with the ban. But they should ban the song, rather than the film. When you write a song for a film, one should have been more sensible. And I believe government should act against the censor board, they should be held responsible.

In Ramcharitmanasa, this is kathan of Ravana, and Tulsidaas says while he is writing....THis is Ravana's Ukti. Be aware of this also. Friend.....Evil(Ravana) speaks evil....
