Every one wants sarbajit back to INDIA and it is not wrong if his family members insist f it. But emotional appeal is nothing but an emotional blackmail. So many political organisations and NGO may try to put pressure on the government to take necessary steps to save Sarbajit even if it means bartering him for pakistani spies and terrorists. Howeevr, we must look at this at a larger angle. We can not release terrorists to save him. Otherwise the released terrorists will take lives of few more innoscent. Second: If he was a spy he new what he was doing and it is very well known fact that any government will not own him and this was the fact must have been informed to him when he was set in mission. What the government can do is to pressurise Pakistani Governemnet by putting other undertrial terrorists on a fast track court, take the decision and execute the punishpment which will be as severe as this. The decision to hang Sarabjit is a part of wider plan by PAK to put pressure on INDIAn governemnt and get concessions elsewhere. No Indian should succumb to such pressure tactics but put equal and matching pressure on PAK.

I fail to understand this sympathy for a terrorist simply because he is an Indian citizen. A terrorist is a terrorist whether he is an Indian or a Pakistani. Such a person can only be termed to be inhuman. With all sympathy to the family of Sarbajit, I would say that it is a good opportunity for a government of India to deal sternly against Afzal Guru and reject his mercy petition and fix a date for his execution. There is no reason why the government of India has been dilly dalying with the mercy petition of Afzal. Is it because he belongs to the minority community which is a strong vote bank for the Congress? It would be a very dangerous precedent as that would hit the morale of the para-milatary forces which is already low. What happens if tomorrow Pakistan seeks the release of Afzal in return of release of Sarbajit. Will the centre release Afzal? I hope Pakistan would not come with such a request and even if it comes, the centre would reject it outrightly even if it means curtains for Sarbajit. After all the security of the country from anti-nationals is the biggest concern today. Terrorists have no religion and they have no goals except kill innocent defenceless people.

Sarabjit's capital punishment is a sad incident. However, we may never know the truth of the matter. Irrespective of whether Sarabjit is innocent or guilty, there is very little chance of his pardon at this stage. For the last 17 years Indian Government has not done anything so why now? The Indian Government's efforts have, as usual, been reactive and only to gain political ground. The media too is doing nothing but gaining viewership. My condolonces to Sarabjit and his family.

this exchange of prisoners would be greater idea than 60000 crore dole. 1:1 ratio would be ideal. this could be the best way to bring in joy. ask kashmir singh about it.

Who wants election now? Why this talk about election?
Advani can release British terrorists who dropped arms in Purulia but can not agree release of a man who served this nation?
But why blame BJP? After all, when in power, BJP knows how to talk hard and at the same time negotiate. This Cong is a waste. they dont do both...
Release some Pak prisoners and help our man to be released... there are many Indians struggling in Pak prison and they are in prison for the people of India. It is convenient for jingoists to talk and spread hatred against Pak sitting in air-condition rooms. But all Indians are duty bound to do something for our prisoners in Pak jail. If we need to release Pak prisoners then we need to do that. After all what are we achieving keeping them here? There are more criminals walking on Indian streets, apparently this sytem do not have time to catch and put such people in jail.

This ia a good opportunity for Musharraf to salvage respect in the eyes of India. Notwithstanding the round the corner elections and BJP, UPA Govt. should consider saving an Indian at any cost.

Saving his life is important for both India and Pak. If something happens to him, no Indian can pardon those who are responsible. By releasing Kashmir Singh, Pak has clearly sent a signal. What were these people doing all these days here in India?
Both Cong and BJP should understand that the public mood in India is not the same as as 10-15 years back. The spreading of TV, news media, internet is now influencing the public opinion in both countries. Clearly people to people level friendship is at its best compared to past. In general Indians do not have the revenge feeling against Pak compared to a few decades ago. Same is true about Pak people towards India. A powerful middle class emerged who are more interested in benefits of trade than jingoistic politics.
If he is hanged in Pak, no one will pardon those responsible. India-pak relationship will take a retrograde step. All these efforts, resource spent for normalization will be lost. Do we need an escalation of tension and extremists in India get upper hand? That will lead to a situation that extremists will get upper hand in Pak and that will unnecessarily escalate violence in Kashmir. Can we afford to do that?
What was these guys doing all these days ever since Kashmir Singh was released? By waiting India has given a chance to Pak to demand and name which ever Pak prisoners they want to release. If they name Parliament attack prisoners? India could have avoided giving this upperhand to them and released some relatively unimportant prisoners immediately after Kashmir Singh's release...
Pak also should understand that BJP has done a blunder and they are trapped in their own blunder. Now they can not easily allow Parliament attack convicts go free (at least immediately.)
Let us give time to heal.
But if BJP takes this up for election politics, they will only lose support of their own vote bank. This person has become a symbol of national pride. He needs to be released at any cost...
