It surprises me that the Urban Indian woman still say a big NO NO to a live-in. While our society is complex in terms of ethics and moral values, I believe that Indian women have been seeking out independence and equality in all means. So it is in a relationship too! I sometimes truly wonder why is it that a sexual relationship is so very hyped in India. And considering one of the survey's question "Should woman have sexual desire?". I wonder if this is a question to be posed!

"The first image is that of the meek sati-savitri, an eternal victim who is yet to see the light of modern values." Whoever told the "enlightened" people running this channel that being meek is being a Sati_Savitri? Savitri is one who brought back her husband from the jaws of death. Courage and Strength and not Meekness could have helped her accomplish her job! Most of the reporters of the new private channels have NOT read any scripture or even attempted to before inventing such derogatory labels to our cultural icons.

I see all the oppositions coming from men!!! No doubt. For them women are still an object of sex and a slave at home. See the matrimonial advertisement 'fair and convent educated' WHY? If your child is getting neglected, why dnt you leave the job instead of asking your wife. Why marry a working women in the first place? The society was as modern and open under the Mughals and the British!!! It is a myth that is was not. Its just that now the common man is getting a voice. Pre-marital and extra-marital sex, inter-religion or caste marriage were always there. Modern India Fathers wake up!!!

It is sad to see majority women suspecting men as being disloyal.
Had men harboured such prejudices against women, then it would have definitely been an issue in our so called progressive society.

Fundamentally the Mythology is misunderstood or misinterpreted.Sathi Savithri was highly brilliant who argued with Lord Yamadharma Raja like an eminent lawyer and was able to get back the life of her husband but also the lost kingdom of her father-in-law.Her character was wonderfully depicted in mythology. In Mythology and Vedic culture Woman given highest respect.aberrations came afterwards and vested interests always play the role.In Greek and Roman Mythologies there were women like Clytemnestra who conspired with her paramour and got her husband Agamemnon though Greek and Roman culture also gave so much value for Chastity of women. In Hindu Mythology the wives of demons like Mandodhari( Ravana),Leelavathi(Hiranya Kasipa)and others were chaste women. It was Droupadhi who wanted the war when all her husbands wanted to make a treaty with Kauravas. She termed her husbands as useless and she would wage a war with Kouravas with the great Abhimanyu (Son of Subhadhra,Wife of Arjuna) and her five sons Upapandavas. It was Rukmini who gave a plan to Lord Krishna as to how to abduct her form her father's house without any battle.Hindu Society is thousands and thousands of years old. Some bad and rot has come. but basics will not change. Even today Indian family system and society is running peacefully.Nobody can deny that 80%of the society is peaceful. We must see to reduce the remaining 20%.Magnifying this 20% is bad.Our Constitution which is only 57 years old has undergone drastic changes and the spirit of it has completely gone. Then what about an old society? Freedom will never is absolute. It has duties and also precautions to be taken.

The collective reasons of lack of perfection of women and men give birth to the extremities i.e. the meek sati-savitri and the Durga whereas man prefers the woman to remain the meek sati-savitri but on the other hand the woman exerting herself to be always Durga. The tug of war is to remain disturbing the families in India and elsewhere. However, it is must to follow a middle path for a successful family. Any how survey is eye-opener for all.

What here actually writer is describing is not at all correct because here he is adding a particular thing to gender. When someone looks at intelligence then gender is never a question, but it depends on person whether thats a girl or boy. Because intelligence comes from brain and that doesnot differentiate it with genders atleast like the author here.

In any case, the land of "Sati"- Rajasthan, has proved far more tolerant, pro-women's freedom, free speeh than Calcutta when Taslima had to take shelter there.
And to understand the SYMBOLISM associated with "Savitri", do read one of the finest literary work ever written: Sri Aurobindo's "Savitri". If CNNIBN don't understand the SYMBOLISM associated with Sati, or Savitri because of their "western education"- we can understand it. But please don't make yourself laughable stock.
