A. M. Charles The Tibetans granted asylum and the US Speaker have both abused the hospitality granted to them by India. Any Indian will understand that an earthly kingdom has nothing to do with Buddhism or for that matter violent monks. It is unbelievable that a visiting dignitary can call for a world condemnation on foreign soil. Is it our natural hospitality that is taken advantage of here or lack of dignity or unfettered leadership in the nation. Whatever the underlying reason one has to accept the fact that Americans whether in the administration or the opposition find theocracy conveniently acceptable in this case just as they overlook the lack of their rallying call democracy in many instances. That this diplomacy of convenience is leading to discontent and violence is conveniently ignored as is that One Big Lie to get rid of one man killing hundreds of thousands in Iraq.

RS Sarma The current crisis in Tibet is a blot on Chinese administration, typical of a wreckless and ruthless lion pouncing on a weakling mouse. Frankly Chinese have no similarity with the Tibetans, be in ethnicity, religion, language and culture. Chinese occupation is clear high handedness, despicable and immoral. They have no sensitivity and not known for reliable frienship, thus untrustworthy (ex: Chinese incursions into India in 1962, even after Bandung summit and 'Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai' drama and claims on Arunachal Pradesh with an equally mighty India. It will be worse in the coming decades, with their global clout, and their economic, military and political might notwithstanding.
The US support is a breather, perhaps taming Chinese ruthless designs on deciphering the Tibetans for a strategic territoty. We only hope china gets reasonable.

Bala K Karibandi The caption under the photo states the Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a Republican whereas the fact is, she is a Democrat.
